Constrained Ball Smart Drawing Aid

Giha Woo, a Korean product designer creates a drawing aid called 'constrained ball'. Once attached to the pen, this device helps to draw straight lines without using a ruler. Normally, a ball point pen rolls freely in accordance with the ball located at the tip of the pen. However, this writing tool prevents winding lines by helping to move the ball in one direction only. Using the installed measuring wheel indicated on the product, users can draw the exact desired line length in both a horizontal and vertical direction, as well as strokes in 45 degree angles.

Let’s draw a straight line with the ball restricted in its direction. The length of the line can be measured accurately by calculating the turns of the wheel. Also, the accurate dimension of the straight line can be made as it is wanted. It is easy for fixing the inserted pen because the hole part is made of rubber in high elasticity. We can underline on the book and make a table and straight line in desired length can be drawn. [via]

The Glue Stick with New Mechanism

The conventional glue sticks with twisting mechanism could cause some inconveniences that people may not even have realized. It is requires both hands even though this kind of office supply would be used in busy environment. Then the existing common glue sticks have an opportunity to be changed their mechanism in a way that is handier than before. The core concept of the “glue block” by Sejoon Kim is using only one hand and extracting glue more conveniently. The “glue block” adopts a pushing mechanism so that it makes more sense that people use their only one hand rather than using both hands. In other words, the “glue block” induces people to perform a specific action, using one hand. With a change from conventional round and twist-up glue stick tube, the form of solid glue changes from round to hexagonal design. The “glue block”, in the form of brick, enables users to apply the glue accurately even around the corner and to keep it on the desk safely. [via]

Consistent-Motion Ruler

This consistent-motion ruler designed by Mr. Myeongjin Kim for solving out problems in using a small ruler. It is inspired by the fact that people usually press the ruler with fingers to fix it when using it, and is easily movable only with your fingers, along the existing path. The ruler is designed to move the part of the ruler where a thumb touches along the side of it, by separating the parts meeting a thumb and a middle finger that are mainly used for pressing and fixing the ruler. Therefore, you can move the ruler easily, moving the other side of it, after pressing and fixing one side with fingers. We can be out of the danger of cutting a finger on a cutter knife a lot, only by widening the area that the blade of the knife touches, a little bit. For a precise measurement that may cause an inconvenience, because of its thickness, gradations are indicated even in the side of the ruler.

How to use? 1. Move the main part of the ruler with a middle figure, pressing and fixing the sub part of it with a thumb. 2. Move the sub part of the ruler to its original position with a thumb, pressing and fixing the main part of it with a middle finger. [via]
