Futuristic Wall Clock with Universal Language

Nooka is a New York design company founded by artist/designer Matthew Waldman. The spirit of Nooka is universal language, which guides the creation of products with enhanced functionality and a futuristic philosophy. Most prominently known for its line of timepieces, Nooka has expanded their range, creating a Mindstyle™ brand with the addition of innovative accessories and a fragrance.

Ever since the release of our first Nooka watch designs, people have been asking for a wall clock version. Developing the molds and components for a large piece in limited quantities is an economic barrier you can help us overcome. The Nooka wall clocks will retail at around $600 with a ZenV display and $650 with a Zirc display. [via]

Power Meter Design Using Network System

Global warming has aggravated environment pollution, and accelerated the depletion crisis of fuel-dependent energy resources. Therefore, we should actively solve the energy problem with low-carbon structure. Designs that arouse the attention of people should come first from the point where users come upon energy for the first time.

DIET WATT is an electricity meter designed by Hyun Joo Lee and Eu Tteum Lee that highly alerts the users about excessive electricity use. The device provides information about electricity consumption that is easy to understand. DIET WATT Sub can be put between the plug and the outlet to measure the electricity use of home appliances.

The display screen of DIET WATT Sub shows the users the amount of electricity consumption, and transmits the information to DIET WATT Main. DIET WATT Main sums up and shows the total electricity consumption of home appliances and electricity bills. By providing the users with information about electricity bill, it induces them to reduce electricity consumption. [via]

Sundial: A Cool and Intelligent Wall Device

Sundial is a cool device on the wall that will beam you the time, the weather, your appointments for the day, stock markets and whatever else you please. It does not simply let you check your schedule for the day, but also allows you to get a little closer to the concept of light and time you often take for granted in your busy days.

Sundial uses the coherence and collimation of laser beams for design. Based on wireless networking systems like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, it visualizes various kinds of information such as the time and schedule, weather, and even exchange rate with laser beams. If you enter your schedule into your computer, Sundial receives the data through networking. And it expresses the data visually with laser beams. It may look like the shape of the sun. Sundial is equipped with UI-user interface with simple touch pad, so it can be an excellent planner for those who lead a busy life. [via]

The World’s Simplest Cell Phone by John Doe Design Studio

Created and developed by the Dutch design studio John Doe, these phones aim to be one thing and one thing only: a phone. Dubbed the world’s simplest cell phone, John's phones allow users to make and receive calls without add-ons like a camera, text messaging or a variety of ringtones. The interface is stripped down to the familiar keypad with buttons to adjust the volume and lock the buttons. Users can store numbers using speed dial or record contact info using the paper address book and pen stored in the back. The phone comes with a one display that is used to show numbers located on the top side of the device. The phone comes in five colours and is currently available on the dutch market.

John’s Phone requires no explanation. Use the phone to call and hang up, turn the sound up or down, and lock or unlock it: it couldn’t be any simpler. The speed-dial feature, which allows you to save speed-dial numbers under every number key, makes John’s Phone perfect as a kids’ cell phone. Phone is a large-key phone. The back of the phone features a flap containing an address book and a pen – this makes John’s Phone perfect for older users too. [via]

Stunning HDD Headphone Amplifier by Fiskars

An industrial designer, Edouard Urcadez, has designed a stunning amplifier which claims to provide “more than amplification” for Fiskars. For the uninitiated, Fiskars is known for shears and garden tools. Hence, the Fiskars 88 HDD headphone amplifier comes as a pleasant surprise. The amplifier is unfortunately a concept but we are mighty impressed by its feature set. The device can store music on its HDD and can be hooked up to four speakers as well. It’s minimal but with just enough exaggeration to easily be identified as a Fiskars product. Fiskars is big on ergonomics and everything the hand touches is usually coated in rubber.
